Clothes Bank

The big question is, what is Clothes Bank?

Clothes Bank was launched in August 2018 as a way to respond to the needs of the community in which Hill St Baptist Church is based. Essentially people in our community who are struggling financially can self refer to clothes bank and then access our stock of clothing free of charge.

We are open each Friday between 2.00 – 5.00pm – Find us on Facebook or email: clothesbank.hillstbaptist@gmail.com

What to expect?

Don’t panic, we’re a friendly bunch. On arrival you will meet one of our volunteers who will register you if it’s your first time with us or sign you in, at this point you will be given a numbered card, you need to listen out for your number to be called to access the clothes bank. It is done this way so that we can offer one on one help with clothes and so that there is greater privacy for people.

Faith-in-Action

So what do I do while waiting?

Each week we have the kettle on ready so that Tea, Coffee and refreshments are available to everyone who comes in.

Why do you run clothes bank?

As Christians we believe that everybody deserves access to the necessities in life and that finance should not be a barrier to this. In his ministry Jesus was seen constantly helping people and as His followers we want to do all we can to support our local community.

Is it really free?

Yes, it is. All we ask is that those accessing take what they need rather than what they want. Why is that you might ask? Simply because we don’t have unlimited stock, if people take more than they need there simply might not be the clothes there to help the next person who comes in. We are very fortunate that the donations come in free to us which enables us to pass them on for free.
